Tips for creating a Resume

  1. Keep it simple
    No fancy font or design
  2. Format
    Prepare in Microsoft Word or .PDF
  3. Employment History
    List most current jobs and make sure to follow time line (i.e. "organize", "organized")
  4. Stories sell
    Numbers, statistics, percentages get attention if you put in bold type. (i.e. "Increased profit by this 28%. Came under budget by 30%")
  5. Avoid generic words
    (i.e. "Customer-oriented", "excellent communications skills", and "creative")
  6. Title
    Use words that refer to job titles to give sense of importance (i.e. "customer service manager, controller, manager, accountant")
